Her book “My Black Country: A Journey Through ” Country Music’s Past, Present and Future,” was published this month. I hear Black moonshiners and Black cowboys, Black nature lovers and Black ghosts, Black angels, Black freedom fighters, gunslingers and Black shotgun riders. It could start a groundswell of long overdue recognition of the overlooked Black country legends and hope for the Black country stars of the future. But for Black performers in particular, it offers a seat, at long last, at a gathering of the country music family. As I write in “My Black Country,” “I have imagined Black country and country to be born as an art form, as an aesthetic, in the year 1624 near Jamestown, Virginia.

After a Daily Mail story suggested that Wilde allegedly gave away her dog in order to spend more time with boyfriend Harry Styles, the rescue where she adopted the pup stepped up to set the record straight. MaeDay Rescue posted the story about what happened with Gordy the dog on their Instagram account. “Well, you may have seen Gordy in the news lately and we want to set the record straight. “Olivia is a huge animal rescue advocate and rehomed Gordy out of compassion and love for him.”The pup appears to be doing well based on his own Instagram account.

Oct 20 (Reuters) - Motown icons Berry Gordy and Smokey Robinson will be honored by the music industry in Los Angeles ahead of the annual Grammy Awards as MusiCares 2023 persons of the year, the organization announced on Thursday. Berry Gordy, 92, and Smokey Robinson, 82, built the Motown record label in the 1960s and for several decades was the highest earning Black American record label, nicknamed Hitsville USA for its dozens of chart toppers. How honored I am to be named the MusiCares Persons of the Year, and together with my best friend of over 65 years, the great Smokey Robinson. I am honored that they have chosen me and my best friend and Motown founder Berry Gordy to share this beautiful honor and celebrate with you all together," he added. "MusiCares is thrilled to be honoring Berry Gordy and Smokey Robinson at the 2023 persons of the year gala, which will be the first time we are honoring two legends together,” Laura Segura, Executive Director of MusiCares, said in a statement.
